We achieve greater impact through partnerships with other arts and community organizations. Past partners include Shee Theatre Company, Thick Description, Asian American Theater Company, La Pena Cultural Center and the Islamic Cultural Center.
What Do the Women Say?
Since 1999, Golden Thread has celebrated International Women’s Day by programming an evening of performance and poetry titled, What Do The Women Say? The program aims to present thought-provoking writing and innovative performances by leading female artists of our time. Past artists include: Nawal al Saadawi, Shahrnush Parsipur, Simin Behbehani, Haya Husseini, Deema Shehabi, Seema Sueko, Rosemary Toohy, Haleh Hatami, Lana Nasser and Almaz Abinader.

The Gaza Monologues
In 2010, the ASHTAR Theatre of Palestine launched a global project to stage the writings of youth from the Gaza Strip at theatre companies across the world. Golden Thread worked partnered with three schools, Mercy High, Moreau High and International Studies Academy to stage the Gaza Monologues in San Francisco. In December, representatives from each production from around the world gathered at the United Nations where they performed at the General Assembly on Palestine Day.

Middle East in San Francisco
Golden Thread has partnered with the San Francisco International Arts Festival to present the work of artists from the Middle East in San Francisco. In 2010, we presented the acclaimed Syrian troupe, Al-Khareef performing the award-winning performance, Solitary. In 2012, we have invited the young Iranian director Reza Servati and his Max Theatre Group to perform at the festival’s special tenth anniversary celebration.
Golden Thread Productions in Los Angeles
Through a partnership with the Los Angeles Theatre Center, Golden Thread has brought two productions to Los Angeles: Benedictus by Motti Lerner in 2007 and Language Rooms by Yussef el Guindi in 2012.
